TOM KIELY -- CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

 

The visionary behind TEAM Unlimited is a gentleman who runs toward his dreams with no finish line in sight.  Upon graduating from Boston College, Kiely entered the hotel industry in 1972 and held marketing positions with the Hilton, Fairmont and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.  The Hyatt Corporation led him to the Islands of Aloha to serve as the Director of Marketing for the Hyatt Resorts of Hawaii, which with his aid, were among the top performing hotels in the company.

In 1988, Kiely branched out and opened The Kiely Company, a marketing management firm that designed and managed campaigns for the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, Waikiki Oahu Visitors Bureau, Atlantis Resort [Bahamas], Island of Lanai [Dole Corporation], Hyatt Resorts, Westin Resorts, Aston Resorts, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts, New Zealand Tourist Board and others.  In 1990 the company was restructured to form TEAM Unlimited, a lifestyle sports marketing company.

In 1990, the Waikiki Oahu Visitors Bureau challenged Kiely to efficiently and effectively generate additional television exposure for the destination.  Responding to the challenge, TEAM Unlimited designed and produced the Hawaiian OceanFest, a featured event on ESPN.  That was the catalyst that fully launched the company into the event and television business and led to the creation of XTERRA, now the world’s leading off-road multisport brand in the world with more than 100 events in 16 countries.

In the company’s early days, Tom decided that television would be a cornerstone of the business.  As a result, TEAM Unlimited is Hawaii’s most prolific television producer with more than 265 shows, 35 Telly awards and 5 Emmy Awards.

JANET CLARK -- PRESIDENT

 

Born and raised in Canberra, Australia, this savvy female from down under is wholeheartedly involved in every facet of TEAM’s successful endeavors.  With more than 25 years of experience in media advertising and marketing services, she is well versed at everything from racing and marketing to TV and gear.  Formerly with Ogilvy and Mather, Hawaii, she served as 1991/92 Advertising Agency Association of Hawaii President and was named Ad woman of the Year in 1992.  From 1993 – 1996 she served as the Executive Director of the Oahu Visitors Bureau and in 1993 joined TEAM Unlimited as Vice President, Marketing; she has since been promoted to President of the company.

DAVE NICHOLAS -- SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

 

Known to many as “Kahuna Dave”, this enigmatic VP keeps the TEAM spunk alive in the office and on the road.  With over 25 years of experience in special event design, planning and operations, he is a true master at his job.  He is the creator of a host of unique and new events including: the Hawaiian OceanFest, the NFL Pro Bowl Beach Challenge, the first international Mountain Bike Stage race, the XTERRA Global tour series of off-road multisport events and the Nevada Passage stage/reality race.  Mr. Nicholas was part of the founding of TEAM in 1989.

TREY GARMAN -- VICE PRESIDENT

 

The southern California native came to Hawaii for college in the early 90's, fell in love with loco moco's and a local girl, and never went back.  After seven years of going to games and writing weekly releases as the Sports Information Director for Hawaii Pacific University, Trey signed on to write weekly releases and go to races with XTERRA.  He started in 2002 as the Marketing Manager and bumped-and-grinded his way into the "VP of everything Janet and Dave don't do" role by 2007.  Trey's main focus is marketing and media relations but his biggest challenge is keeping up with his witty 3-year-old daughter, Kiana.
